Covering involves wrapping a golden or silver thread around a cotton thread or a silk thread.
Soierie Vivante arranges the visits in Mrs. Stival’s workshop. By reservation, she will explain to you how a golden or metallic thread will be created, to then be used on a loom.

Mr. Mattelon’s hand weaving workshop, 10 rue Richan
The workshop dates back to the XIXth century and it contains four hand looms provided with functioning Jacquard mechanisms.
Soierie Vivante has taken part in getting Mr. Mattelon’s hand loom listed as “historic monument”. It also participated in the restoration of an exceptional damask weaving loom.
