The weaving workshop
Created in the 19th century the workshop offers a great
historical interest because it is the last power weaving workshop
remaining in the Croix Rousse area.
Its unimpaired internal architecture is representative of the
dozens of thousands family workshops which filled the Croix Rousse
area during the 19th century. The 65m2 of this life and working
space encompass the kitchen the mezzanine the looms and a machine
which makes bobbins. Weaving’s displays on a hand-loom dating from
the 19th century and also on power looms (electrified) and
provided with Verdol’s mechanisms dating from 1950. These looms
have run until 1990.
Guided tours Tuesday through Saturday at 3pm and at 5pm, no
booking necessary (closed on bank holidays).
